Apple has just rolled out the iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7 update. With this new version, the manufacturer takes the opportunity to correct many security flaws and bugs, starting with a worrying problem concerning the Wi-Fi connection. We explain everything to you.
While the public beta of iOS 15 has been available since early July, Apple has just deployed the iOS 14.7 update this Thursday, July 22, 2021. On the program, new features and especially fixes for many bugs and security flaws spotted by the Apple brand. Let’s take stock together.
In the first place, Apple fixes an important bug in the Wi-Fi connection. In June 2021, the Cupertino company spotted a bug in the naming of wireless networks. By joining a Wi-Fi network named “% p% s% s% s% s% s% n”, it was possible in some cases to permanently lose the Wi-Fi connection on your iPhone, or worse, to require a factory reset.
In addition, the manufacturer also fixes with this patch a number of security flaws detected in audio files, in the Find My app, in PDFs, or in web images. In addition, the company took care to get rid of several vulnerabilities on MacOS Big Sur 11.5, tvOS 14.7, and WatchOS 7.6.
iOS 14.7: fixes and some new features
Let’s put aside the security aspect to focus on the new features offered by this version 14.7 of iOS. First, let’s note the support for the MagSafe external battery for the iPhone 12. As a reminder, Apple presented this accessory sold for 109 € piece this July 14, 2021. In addition, the Weather app benefits from some additions, starting with air quality display in France and in other countries. Note also that the weather and air quality also appear in Apple Plans now.
To conclude, the interface of the Podcasts application has been slightly revised. From now on, it is possible to display all the available programs, or well only the ones you follow. Useful when it comes to quickly finding the content that interests you most. As a reminder, the iOS 14.7 update is available on all iPhones from the iPhone 6S, while the iPadOS 14.7 update is on all iPad Pro models, on the iPad Air 2 and newer, on 5th generation iPads and newer, iPad mini 4s and newer, and lastly 7th generation iPod Touch.
