Android 12: the first ROMs are already available before the official launch
Several developers have taken advantage of the release of the AOSP version of Android 12 to create their own version of the operating system. Thus, the first ROMs are appearing on the forums. For now, only those for the Redmi K20 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 9 T Pro are available.
With the arrival of Project Treble, Android has undeniably become more flexible. It is now easier for developers to take advantage of the open source nature of the operating system to create their own ROMs. Most often, these are even relatively close to the official version, in addition to being compatible with a large number of devices. They were therefore impatiently awaiting the release of the AOSP of Android 12, which took place yesterday.
Indeed, while the final version of the OS was initially due to arrive on October 4, it seems that Google has postponed the launch in order to have time to integrate all the promised features. For holders of Samsung Galaxy S21, it will be necessary to wait until the end of the year before installing the update. Never mind, you can already enjoy the ultimate Android experience thanks to the work of independent developers, who are gradually starting to publish OS ROMs.
The first Android 12 ROMs
At least if you have a Redmi K20 Pro or Xiaomi Mi 9 T Pro, because they are currently the only smartphones to benefit from a compatible ROM. Good news: Based on user feedback, these seem rather stable. It’s likely that a few bugs will persist and, of course, several features are missing, but they’re a good way to get a glimpse of what lies ahead with the update.

On the other hand, we can’t really recommend that you install it on your main smartphone. Not being the official versions, the risks of data loss or other more serious problem are not zero. Conversely, you can fall back on the many betas of manufacturers already available, such as those of Samsung, OnePlus and Oppo.
