Apple Self Service Repair: all repair manuals will be available online
Self Service Repair, the self-service repair program launched by Apple, will be based on an online store operated by a third party. In addition, it seems that all repair manuals can be found on the brand’s website.
A few days ago, Apple launched Self Service Repair, a program that allows users to repair their iPhones, iPads or MacBooks themselves. The Silicon Valley giant has pledged to sell official spare parts for its products and to make explanatory documents available to help users in the process. At first, the program will be reserved for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 ranges. Then, the program will open for Mac M1 or later.
During the announcement, Apple was particularly stingy in details on the operation of this program. More recently, an internal note intercepted by MacRumors, however, came to lift the veil on how Apple will organize Self Service Repair.

Apple to put its support documents online on its site
First, the note reveals that assistance documents intended to guide users will be put online. These documents will be available on the Apple support website. The note specifies that the documents will be proposed according to the location of the Internet user. Once the user’s country of residence has been validated, it will be possible to order the necessary parts. It can be expected that the documentation will be readily available on the web, which should make it easier for third-party repair shops.
More surprisingly, the internal note reveals that parts for repairs will be provided by a third party. Concretely, the online store where it will be possible to order the components will be fully loaded by a third party whose identity has not been revealed. The choice to outsource the process probably allows Apple to streamline its logistics.
As a reminder, the Self Service Repair program will be launched in the United States at the beginning of next year. It will be offered in other countries in the coming months. We will tell you more about this program as soon as possible. While waiting for more information, feel free to give your opinion on Apple’s project in the comments below.
