Apple to announce MacBook Pro M1X in October 2021
Apple is expected to announce the new M1X-powered MacBook Pro in the coming weeks. According to a reputable source, a new keynote would be on the company’s program. This new generation would also bring a host of innovations from a design and connectivity point of view.
For several months, it has been rumored that Apple would announce a new MacBook Pro during a keynote scheduled for October 2021. Available in 14 or 16 inches, the computer would be powered by a new processor developed by Apple Silicon, the Apple M1X. This in-house processor follows on from the M1 processor based on an ARM architecture and integrated into the previous MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
Mark Gurman, reporter at Bloomberg and inexhaustible source of information on Apple’s plans, is able to confirm the rumors. In his Sunday newsletter, he assures us that the keynote dedicated to the MacBook Pro M1X will take place in the coming weeks. “The new MacBook Pro did not appear during the September Apple presentation, but it is still expected to launch in the coming weeks. Apple typically makes its major new Mac introductions in October. So stay tuned ”, says Mark Gurman.
A MacBook Pro M1X with MagSafe and mini-LED display?
The journalist also evokes the novelties brought by this new MacBook Pro. According to him, the computer is powered by an M1X processor with 10 cores (8 high performance, 2 energy efficient cores) and a 16 or 32 core GPU. As a reminder, the M1 processor was satisfied with 8 cores and 8 cores dedicated to graphics.
Apple wouldn’t just improve its computer’s SoC. The Californian firm would also bring many changes to the design of the MacBook Pro. Apple would abandon the famous TouchBar (a touch strip that allows easy access to commands), add the MagSafe recharge inaugurated on the iPhone 12 and integrate a series of new ports.
Indeed, the brand would not be limited to a few USB-C ports, as on current models. Apple would bet on an HDMI port and an SD card reader in addition to the USB-C ports. Finally, Mark Gurman suggests that the MacBook Pro would have new display technology. Leaks rely on a mini-LED screen similar to that of the latest iPad Pro. We will tell you more as soon as possible.
