Apple will cut off access to FaceTime, Siri, and other iMessages on older iPhones
If you are one of the few people to own and use an iPhone 5 or a “vintage” device with the Apple logo, know that the time to dispose of it is very close. From May 2023, the Cupertino company will cut off access to its services for smartphones and other smart watches that it considers obsolete.
According to this Twitter member, Apple will prevent devices running iOS 11.2.6, macOS 10.13.3, watchOS 4.2.3, and tvOS 11.2.6 or earlier to use its services. For the brand’s customers, the time has therefore come to buy a new iPhone, Mac or other Apple Watch, if their device is a bit old.
As of early May, access to Apple services, with the exception of iCloud, will stop working on devices running:
–iOS 11-11.2.6
– macOS 10.13-10.13.3
– watchOS 4-4.2.3
–tvOS 11-11.2.6

Whatever one may say, and despite all their intrinsic qualities, the main attraction of the iPhone lies in the Apple ecosystem. By cutting off their access, the Apple firm is sending a subtle message to its customers who pride themselves on having managed to keep their iPhone 5 obsolete against all odds for so many years.
Apple will block you from the App Store if you have an iPhone 5 or older
Indeed, if the rumor is true, Apple is preparing to cut access to all of its services, with the notable exception of iCloud. And the applications concerned are numerous:
- App Store
- Siri
- FaceTime
- iMessage
- Maps
- AppleTV+
- AppleFitness+
- AppleMusic
The list of applications that have become essential daily users of Mac, iPhone, Apple TV or even Apple Watch is very long.

The service cut should only take place in May 2023. Of course, the company will send you a message beforehand and will tell you what to do. You will either have to update your hardware, because remember, frequent updates are not only used to add functionality to your devices, but above all they guarantee your security. If your iPhone, computer or smartwatch cannot be updated, it’s time to buy a new Apple device, if you can’t do without the services offered by the firm, or a other brand.
