Apple would like to launch a new iPad mini on the market by the end of 2021. According to information from a renowned analyst, the Cupertino giant is indeed preparing the arrival of a new small-format tablet with a 9-inch screen. Is this the very last iPad mini in the brand’s boxes? Californian? We take stock.

Ming-Chi Kuo, the famous analyst who can predict Apple’s plans years in advance with varying degrees of accuracy, announces the release of an iPad mini 6 during the second half of 2021. The Californian giant has already ordered 9-inch touch screens from one of its usual suppliers.

Unfortunately, the analyst does not mention the novelties or the technical sheet of this future tablet of reduced size in his financial report. Anyway, we hope that Apple integrates a screen stripped of borders, like the iPad Pro or the iPad Air 4, with a Touch ID fingerprint reader placed on the edge. Similarly, we would like to find an M1 processor, as is the case on the iPad Pro 5G with a mini-LED screen.

A last iPad mini before the launch of the foldable iPhone?

In view of the information already appeared on the web, it could be the last version of the iPad mini to emerge. This iPhone, still under development, would make it possible to switch from classic smartphone format to tablet format. Apple would accompany the foldable iPhone with an Apple Pencil stylus revised for the occasion.

Note also thatApple does not usually renew the iPad mini every year. The last refresh dates from 2019. It is rather difficult to imagine the brand announcing an iPad mini 7 in the course of 2022. The small tablet is far from being the most popular model in Apple’s catalog. Nowadays, consumers are turning more to tablets with a more generous display surface.
