ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED challenged by illustrator and graphic designer Paiheme
In order to see what the Vivobook has in its belly, we asked Paiheme to come to our video studio for a Full HD 30 FPS creation with lots of effects and overlays. A challenge to follow on video.
Paiheme, artistic director of the eponymous studio, is a true graphic designer in France, known and recognized for his vintage Japanese illustrations. With such a profile, we couldn’t resist the urge to challenge him: to make a particularly resource-intensive creation to test ASUS’s new laptop, the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, a machine designed to meet the needs of creatives.
For Goran V. Albert, the YouTuber specializing in new technologies who animates this filmed challenge, it is the opportunity to make a practical test of the ASUS machine, by pushing it to its limits. To do this, he asks Paiheme to put his know-how at the service of the channel by reworking his betweener, the animated logo that marks a transition between each chapter of a YouTube video. To do this, he must carry out a complete workflow in three stages. First create an illustration in Photoshop, animate it with After Effects then finish with an export with Adobe Media Encoder.
Successful bet for Paiheme and at the same time the ASUS machine! The Phonandroid channel is not left out since it has a refreshed, more modern and more dynamic logo, with a glitch effect, to ensure its video transitions. On this occasion, Paiheme returned to the characteristics of the ASUS Vivobook 16X OLED that he was able to explore and test for this challenge.
Vivobook Pro 16X OLED: the screen that meets the expectations of creatives
On the occasion of this illustrator work, Paiheme tells us that he was pleasantly surprised by the characteristics and the quality of the screen. In terms of contrast and brightness, that’s clearly all he needs when doing illustration or graphic design and, more broadly, any kind of creative content. Remember that this ASUS Vivobook Pro is equipped with a large 15.6-inch 4K OLED screen displaying 9 million pixels and more than a billion color variations. Pantone certified, it also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, the ultimate for creatives!
A slab designed to work for a long time and in complete comfort
On long sessions, it is still comfortable to work on this Vivobook, because we benefit from a blue light reduced by 70%. And we know it in the long term, it is the worst enemy of graphic designers and all people who work for a long time in front of a screen.
More importantly, this OLED panel offers a response time of just 0.2ms, which is much lower than what you can see on other similar laptops. For Paiheme, this is something he felt from the first contact with the ASUS machine and he particularly appreciated this fluidity which allows working in complete comfort.
A powerful and enduring machine that knows no slowing down
In addition to a pleasant first contact, Paiheme particularly appreciated the almost non-existent latency on this PC, which allowed him to save a lot of time in his workflow and to work easily and quickly. The ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED only needed about 20 seconds to export the project, even at the maximum video bitrate.
Note that the manufacturer ASUS has also paid particular attention to the cooling system. ASUS offers three cooling profiles that adapt to the task at hand. In autonomy, we are on a high performance battery of 96W / h. So even if the Vivobook is not connected to the mains and we have to embark on a long work session, we can carry it out without fear of running out of fuel.
