Fitbit: your watch will now be able to tell you if you snore too much at night
Your Fitbit smartwatch may well let you know if you or your partner is snoring too loudly while sleeping. Fitbit is rolling out a “Snore & Noise Detect” feature on some of its smartwatches.
If you have a Sense or Versa 3 smartwatch, good news. Indeed, thanks to a new update, your watch can now detect the volume of noise in your bedroom at night, and listen specifically to snoring using the devices’ built-in microphones.
Unfortunately, not all Fitbit watches are compatible with this feature, and no bracelet should benefit from the update, not even the new Fitbit Charge 5 which was officially unveiled a few weeks ago. You also need a Fitbit Premium subscription at $ 10 per month to use it.
Sense and Versa 3 watches will be able to better monitor your sleep
The feature, which the built-in microphone in smartwatches to monitor noise in your sleeping environment, will allow you to better analyze your behavior at night. Fitbit says this feature will help you ” find out if snoring or the level of noise in your surroundings may interfere with your sleep “. As a reminder, Fitbit watches are already able to detect if you are a victim of sleep apnea.
The watches would be able to tell the difference between no or light snoring, moderate snoring (10 to 40% of the time spent sleeping) or frequent (more than 40%). However, while the watches are smart enough to distinguish snoring from other ambient noises, they cannot isolate individual sleepers. Therefore, if you sleep with your partner and he also snores, it will be impossible for you to have accurate data.
Users can access their information by visiting in the Sleep section of the Fitbit app with a snoring report the next day. Users can also turn off the feature by going to the settings at the top right of the app. For now it seems that Fitbit is rolling out to all users, it may therefore not be available from you for several days.
