Google Discover disappears on tablet, replaced by Entertainment Space
Google Discover is present on all Android devices. Personalized news feed, it’s designed for smartphones, not tablets. Google has therefore decided to replace it with a new one: Entertainment Space. It is dedicated to entertainment.
Google Discover is handy on Android smartphones. If you go to the leftmost pane of your desktop, you have a news feed based on your preferences. However, this feature doesn’t really make sense on an Android tablet. Google understood this and therefore decided to replace it with another, named Entertainment Space.
Inspired by the interface of Google TV, Entertainment Space focuses on entertainment, not information. As you can see, these are the content of video platforms that are featured, be it Youtube, Twitch, Disney Plus or Hulu. However, it should be noted that Netflix will not be present, as Google has not signed a partnership with the Californian giant.

We also notice that two other tabs are accessible at the top of the screen: a game section that takes you directly to the most popular titles from the PlayStore and also to those already installed on your tablet. Finally, the Read part, as its name suggests, is dedicated to e-books, which you can again download from the PlayStore.
Entertainment Space will arrive later this year
A new pane that will be activated in the same way as Discover, that is to say directly integrated into the home screen. Here, the uses are better thought for the tablet, much more used media for entertainment. For the moment, this tab is only in the testing phase, but it should be deployed for all users in the course of the year 2021. We do not know when it will arrive in Europe, and more particularly in France.
Android tablets are not really the wind in their sails today, the format is out of fashion. However, there has been some renewed interest from consumers, in particular thanks to a good first quarter of 2021. The pandemic and the need to be entertained at home are helping this market well, even if it remains Apple that benefits the most. with his iPad.
