Google has a hidden iOS app to help you switch to Android

(Pocket-lint) – Google appears to have quietly launched a “Switch to Android” iOS app, which allows iPhone users to easily transfer their data to an Android phone without a cable.
At least that’s what the specialists at 9to5Google say, who have shown the ins and outs of this application in a new video.
The site first reported the existence of the Switch to Android app last year after mentions of it were spotted in an APK teardown.
Now it looks like we have the resulting app – albeit in unlisted form, for now.
“Google’s Switch to Android app helps you quickly and securely transfer your most important data — photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events — to a brand new Android device without messy cables,” reads the description of the application on the Apple App Store.
Interestingly, as 9to5Google suggests, this list does not include Messages, although the app appears to instruct users on how to turn off iMessage and avoid the confusion that leaving it on brings.
As the report also states, the app is currently not available for download from the App Store through traditional means. And, when we’ve tried it at the time of writing, it still proves to be true.
That said, it looks like you can download it from this link in the App Store.
It remains to be seen when Google (or Apple) will decide to officially list the app, but it should give those switching providers a much easier way to do so – and a long-awaited one.
Hopefully we can soon see Switch to Android replicate the same experience Samsung Smart Switch has created.
