Hot Wheels: Rift Rally establishes itself as a mixed reality racing game on mobile
Developed by the creators of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, the Hot Wheels: Rift Valley racing game just announced. With this release, Velan Studios invites you to break speed records in your living room, or anywhere in your home! Mobile game in mixed reality, this title allows you to create your own circuits and control a vehicle remotely with your phone to navigate it. Discover the gameplay and the Rift Rally release date in this article. For now, pre-orders are only open in the United States.
Home Car Racing Hot Wheels Gameplay
Announced by Velan Studios, Hot Wheels: Rift Rally takes the formula of mixed reality miniature car racing brought by Mario Kart during the pandemic. With the partnership between Velan Studios and Mattel, this new Hot Wheels game on mobile imposes a fiery toy car style on the house.
Buy your pack, place your doors and create the circuit of your dreams in any room of your house or apartment. In fact, you can even do this outside, wherever you can take your iOS device and play it safe!
Official Hot Wheel: Rift Rally trailer for its release
THE Rift Rally trailer reveals gameplay footage of the game from Velan Studios. We see two players and their vehicles, in the race and when preparing the circuit.
On the gameplay side, several important points are presented in the trailer:
- Mixed reality of the circuit and your remote-controlled vehicle;
- Personalization of your vehicle in its virtual version, such as color, model and decoration. Of course, this won’t change its real appearance, but your custom car will be visible on the screen during the race!
- Of the doors to place on the ground to create a course of your choice, on a relatively flat surface;
- And varied environments and items to use to affect your opponent’s run or boost your Hot Wheels car: Rift Rally in order to come first.
Game Modes: Campaign & Stunt
In his release trailer, Hot Wheels: Rift Rally doesn’t really mention possible game modes. However, you can discover the Campaign mode and the Stunt mode. In the campaign, you can play alone or with others (alternating control of the vehicle) on your personalized track with your doors. You can also face your friends in a Rift Rally challenge on Playstation and mobile up to 4 players at the same time.

THE Stunt mode focuses on the freestyle. In-game, train yourself to do impressive tricks. Your score will increase and you won’t need to focus on gates since there are no circuits in Stunt mode. Campaign and Stunt are the only two modes available to the Hot Wheels: Rift Rally release. At the same time, we would have liked to see time trials or other variations of the test.

Hot Wheels: Rift Rally release date
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit was a Switch exclusive. For its part, Hot Wheels: Rift Rally will be available on mobile, PS5, and PS4. It will be a iOS exclusive. The release date for Hot Wheels: Rift Rally is scheduled for March. The exact date should be March 14, since that is the expected date for receiving pre-orders.
You can already pre-order the game on iPhone, iPad and Playstation consoles if you live in the United States on the game’s official website. Then orders will open in Canada and hopefully the rest of the world.

Rift Rally replaces Knockout City
While we’re thrilled to be able to announce the release date for Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, it comes at the cost of another game. Last week, Velan Studios said its Knockout City game would shut down in June 2023. Knockout City is a multiplayer shooter in which you have to knock out your opponents with precise shots. Those who haven’t tried it yet only have a few months left to do so.
