Huawei will soon launch a watch capable of measuring blood pressure
Huawei will soon unveil a new connected watch. This will be able to measure blood pressure. The Chinese firm is recruiting testers in the Middle Kingdom to test the functionality. This new watch should also integrate an ECG that Huawei used for the first time in the Watch GT 2 Pro.
Earlier today, we published an article on Canalys’ barometer of the wristband and smartwatch market in the second quarter of 2021. According to this study, Xiaomi is the number one brand by volume. In the segment of connected watches only, Apple is in pole position, without much surprise. Huawei is third in the bracelet and watch market, and second in the watch market.
Official Fitbit Charge 5: a smart bracelet with an electrocardiogram
Of course, Huawei has slipped heavily. However, as with smartphones, the Chinese firm does not intend to give up the battle so easily. After the Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro, other connected watches are in the works. Watches that will continue to play the health and biometrics card. let’s remember that Huawei offers ECG in China with a special version of the Watch GT 2 Pro.
There will be a blood pressure monitor in Huawei’s next watch
Chinese site IT Home reports that a launch could take place very soon. And the new connected watch should integrate a blood pressure monitor that is used to measure blood pressure. Two clues confirm this information. First, a Huawei executive confirmed having received certification from the Chinese health authority. And this certification concerns a blood pressure monitor. Second clue, Huawei is recruiting testers for “a new biometric function”. And one of the selection criteria concerns the size of the wrist.
This is not the first time that a blood pressure monitor has been integrated into a connected watch. But it is still very rare: only Samsung offers this function, and this since the Galaxy Watch 3 launched in August 2020. By offering a blood pressure monitor in its new watch, Huawei would strike very hard. Especially since rumors affirm that Apple will not offer any new biometric function in its next Apple Watch.
