IPhone 13: A15 Bionic SoC explodes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200
The iPhone 13 stands out as the most powerful smartphone on the market. Thanks to an A15 Bionic SoC engraved in 5nm +, Apple’s flagship exceeds the Android competition. In a benchmark, it turns out that the chipset is significantly more powerful than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200.
A few days after Apple’s presentation keynote, benchmarks for an iPhone 13 appeared in the Geekbench database. In view of the amount of RAM integrated into the smartphone (6 GB), it is probablyan iPhone 13 Pro or an iPhone 13 Pro Max, the two most premium editions.
These benchmarks provide a first insight actual performance of the A15 Bionic SoC. During the keynote, Apple assured, without disclosing details, that the chipset is 50% more efficient than those of the Android competition thanks to 15 billion transistors and a 6-core CPU. “The A15 Bionic chip is the fastest in the world for smartphones”, boasts Apple on its website.

The Cupertino giant has not exaggerated. On Geekbench, the A15 Bionic SoC climbs to 1,738 points in single-core and to 4,766 points in multicore. In a second benchmark that appeared in the database, the chipset displays 1734 points in single core and 4818 points in multicore. The single core score is roughly 10% higher than that of SoC A14 Bionic iPhone 12, which was already the most powerful chipset on the market.
As expected, the A15 Bionic SoC developed by Apple far outperforms high-end chipsets developed for Android competition, including the future Snapdragon 898 from Qualcomm and the Exynos 2200 developed by Samsung. On Geekbench, Qualcomm’s next high-end SoC does not exceed 720 points in single core and 1,919 points in multicore. Expected next December, the chipset is expected to power most of the high-end Android smartphones on the market in 2022.
For its part, the SoC Exyos 2200 rises to 1,073 points in single core and 3,398 points in multicore. The latest news is that Samsung’s SoC is expected to power smartphones in the Galaxy S22 lineup, which are due in January. The two processors are therefore far from the performance displayed by the A15 Bionic SoC. Nevertheless, it will be necessary to wait for the benchmarks carried out during the release to determine the real extent of performance of the chips from Qualcomm and Samsung.
