iPhone 13, iPhone 12: an iOS 15 bug cuts the Bluetooth connection in the car
A new iOS 15 bug affects the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 12. According to a slew of online testimonials, a malfunction disconnects the Bluetooth of smartphones when they are connected to a Toyota, Volvo or Audi car without CarPlay. For some, it is not possible to make a hands-free call.
According to numerous testimonials that have appeared on the web, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 encounter a serious bug with iOS 15, or a later version of the operating system (iOS 15.1…). According to several users, this bug randomly disconnects the Bluetooth connection from the smartphone when it is connected to their car’s hands-free system.
“The connection between the car and the phone fails 2-8 minutes after the call starts. The phone call continues on the phone, but the car thinks the call is over. After this point, the bluetooth functionality does not work properly until I restart the car ”, testifies an iPhone 13 Pro user. According to him, the terminal is “Unusable for calls in my car”. Since the end of October, testimonials of this ilk have been piling up on Reddit or Apple’s support forums.

IPhone 13/12 disconnect on Toyota, Audi and Volvo cars
Apparently, this malfunction only concerns iPhone 12 and 13 connected to a Toyota car which does not have CarPlay, the Apple system which allows iPhone applications to be duplicated on the screen of a vehicle. Drivers ofan Audi or Volvo car without CarPlay also claim to encounter annoying malfunctions with Bluetooth, especially during calls or listening to music.
On cars without CarPlay, users must connect their iPhone via Bluetooth directly to the vehicle’s on-board system. Alerted by several drivers, Toyota customer service could not offer a solution to this recurring problem.
For now, Apple has not communicated on this bug. Hopefully the Silicon Valley giant incorporates a patch to a future update of iOS 15. It is not known if iOS 15.2, currently available in beta, corrects the situation. Have you noticed similar issues with your iPhone or your car? We await your testimony in the comments.
