iPhone 13: new colors, reduced notch, Touch ID under the screen … here are the latest leaks
The iPhone 13 continues to unveil itself. As the presentation keynote is fast approaching, a series of leaks have lifted the veil on the new colors in Apple’s boxes. The indiscretions confirm that Apple has managed to reduce the size of the notch. In the years to come, the American giant should go even further by completely eliminating it.
To distinguish iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max of the other models, Apple will decline the two high-end smartphones in several premium colors. Citing information from the supply chain, the Ranzuk leaker assures that the iPhone 13 Pro will be offered in the following colors: black, silver, rose gold and sunset gold.
A previous leak signed Apple Tomorrow was already counting on 4 exclusive colors for the iPhone 13 Pro. In view of the descriptions provided, the two informants evoke the same colors, but under different names. Apple Tomorrow titled the colors this way: Sunset Gold, Matte Black, Rosé and Pearl.
Apple is working on technology that hides Face ID and Touch ID under the screen
According to information from our colleagues at Apple Insider, Apple would have succeeded in reducing the size of the notch of the iPhone 13. Present since the iPhone X, this notch accommodates all TrueDepth sensors required for Face ID facial recognition to work. It also contains a proximity sensor, a speaker, the microphone and the front camera.
Patent in support, Apple Insider assures that Apple aims to get rid of the notch completely over the next generations. To achieve this, the group would like to hide the sensors housed in the notch under the touch screen. The Cupertino giant would take the opportunity to resuscitate the Touch ID fingerprint reader.
According to the patent unearthed by Apple Insider, the company would hide the components necessary for Face ID and Touch ID under the screen using the same technology. Concretely, the device imagined by the engineers could unlock the iPhone using either your face (if it is in the field) or the fingerprint. The technology under development would be capable of switch from one biometric unlock method to another.
