It’s the end of Apex Legends Mobile (really)
If you found that the month of January had seen a tidal wave of cancellations of games, it is nothing compared to the catastrophic start of this month of February. After the announcement of the closure of Autochess MOBA, we learn that it is already the end of Apex Legends Mobile. Via a tweet and a post on the game’s official blog, EA reveals the stages of end of life of his mobile shooter.
EA’s decision to shut down Apex Legends Mobile and its servers
Before the announcement of its closure, Apex Legends Mobile has received numerous awards. Voted best mobile game by numerous ceremonies, including the Mobi Awards 2022 ranking, this title had convinced players around the world with a successful adaptation and refreshing. However, today, we learn that the game will be soon unavailable.
The reasons for this stop
It’s an understatement to say that the mobile community was shocked to learn of the end of Apex Legends Mobile not getting up this morning. Without saying too much, the official tweet states that this decision stems from an issue with in-house content production.
According to this announcement, neither the cadence nor the content quality could not be maintained over time with the current pipeline. This is very similar to the arguments raised regularly by Supercell which also kills its games one after the other.
By the way, we still appreciate this answer from Ark. He thinks it frankly looks like a text breakup. I couldn’t have said it better.

On the blog post that discusses the shutdown of Apex Legends Mobile and the end of life stagesEA reveals that this production problem is linked to a partner studio in charge of development.
Apex Legends Mobile Closing Steps
Nothing can be changed with the radical decision of the editor to definitively interrupt the development of Apex Mobile. On the other hand, I advise you to remember these dates if you still plan to enjoy the game while it’s online:
- January 31 – end of online purchases, announcement of the closure of the game, official refusal of refunds;
- May 1, 2023 (4pm PDT / 1am UTC+1) – shutdown of Apex Legends Mobile servers after which the game will be completely inaccessible.
The refund problem
Players are extremely disappointed to learn of the closing Apex Legends Mobile and they expected at least one refund of their recent purchases. In fact, EA had just released a special Lunar New Year bundle that many players decided to purchase to spruce up their account.
With this “sunset” of the game, owners of the very recent pack will not really have the opportunity to enjoy it and feel like they have been ripped off. The announcement of the end of Apex Legends Mobile will certainly cause a rapidly decreasing number of players assets… And what good is a skin if there is no one to admire it?

However, EA sticks to its positions. The publisher relies on its sales policy to explain to players that even though the game is closing and this pack is extremely new, no one will be entitled to a refund. It’s a blow to the heart and wallet for those players who already see their shooter disappearing forever.
In any case, contrary to the closing of Autochess MOBA, the Apex Mobile end of life is indeed definitive. EA is not closing the door to future adaptations. However, it will take some time before you have the opportunity to play your favorite legends on mobile. In addition to Apex, Battlefield Mobile is also canceled, even before its full release. It is the carnage of the beginning of the year 2023.
