Linky: a new ANFR study confirms that the wave level is not worrying
If you needed any new proof, here it is. Yet another study on Linky’s wave emission level brings the same conclusion as the previous ones: the meter is not dangerous for health. In fact, the recorded rates are up to 60 times lower than the legal limit.
“All the measurements carried out comply with the regulatory limit values for public exposure to waves”. The conclusion of the latest ANFR study is clear: the Linky meter poses no risk to health. Despite the statements of the few recalcitrant, the device does not emit enough waves to cause problems of intolerance. This is shown by the results of tests carried out on 329 meters across France.
This study is in line with previous ones which have already proven that the meter emits much less waves than the limit imposed by law. Thus, the ANFR affirms that the recorded rates are 20 to 60 lower than the recommendations of health experts. Furthermore, “For nearly two-thirds of the measurements (62%), no Linky PLC radiation was detected despite an average measurement time of one hour”. An interruption which is explained by “The meter polling interval which varies in particular according to the number of meters connected to the same distribution loop for serving a district”.
No, Linky meters are not dangerous for health
Last element to take into account: the distance to the computer. So, the further away you are from the device, the less you pick up the waves it emits. This is surely the most reassuring observation of all, when we know that Linky is generally installed in low-traffic areas of the habitat like the garage, or is located with the rest of the electrical panels of the building.

“82% of the measurements were taken at a distance of 20 cm from the Linky meter”, explains the ANFR. “Those carried out at greater distances show generally lower exposure levels, the distance being a major parameter for reducing exposure: as soon as one moves a few tens of centimeters away from the radiation source, the exposure level drops sharply ”.
