The iconic elements of the license such as the parachute, grappling hook and vehicles to explore an open-world solo. On the other hand, we don’t have could not access PvP because of the still too low number of players. Just Cause Mobile is not the only big title to want to establish itself on mobile after its success on more traditional video game supports. We will soon give you a list of major games coming to mobile like Star Wars Hunter, Rogue Company Mobile, Rainbow Six Mobile, call of duty vanguard mobileand many other titles.
2️⃣ To stay on the licenses that have marked the video game, the account The Witcher announced this week a new adaptation of its universe on mobile. After Gwent and thronebreaker side JCC and The Witcher: Monster Slayer, the lore imagined by Andrzej Sapkowski offers a new title, entitled Golden Nekker. This Witcher card game will be released on PC, Android and iOS only in single player, although we do not know more about its content.
3️⃣ Leaving aside the dark creatures of fantasy Poland for a zombie-laden title. Dead 4 Returns, spiritual heir to Left 4 Dead on mobile, is available in closed beta. You can register to download the game and test it, if selected, through TapTap. During testing and upon release, Dead 4 Returns has focus on co-op PvE rather than PvP due to development concerns. The beta will end on May 6 so that the studio can adapt its title to the feedback from testers.
4️⃣ Official adaptation of the hit PC game, Frostpunk mobile entered alpha this week. From his full name Frostpunk: Beyond the Icethis title plunges you into a alternate 20th century version where a volcanic winter plunged the world into snow. Where all the cities of the world have failed, a city has survived thanks to its heat generator. Today the only source of life in this white desert, this unique colony of survivors must continually fuel your heart with coalfeed its inhabitants a few potatoes in the powder snow and cut down the woods to rebuild what it has lost.
In this urban management and survival simulation, you will have to mix the management of your population, its heat, its expansion and all its needs with expeditions to the outside world to build a new empire on the remains of the old world. If you enjoyed discovering games like The Bonfire 2, mobile frostpunk already offers a high quality of play and an immersive atmosphere and relatively few bugs for an alpha phase.
5️⃣ The game from NetEase Games called Project: Castle in early access on Android in some regions. This side-view RPG a la Hustle Castle or Assassins’ Creed has many mini-games in addition to boss battles and building your own personal castle.
Project: Castle appears as a revisit of the already known elements of this kind of games: idle, gacha, character improvement, PvE, PvP and a multitude of small events to occupy the field. We will surely test it when it comes out, even if it does not appear to be an original proposal.
6️⃣ After a long beta phase, Dislyte is finally aiming for worldwide publication. It’s official, the release of Dislyte will therefore take place in May. If you were tired of waiting for this title between mythology, pop culture and musical game, you won’t have to wait long. mingling urban scene and EDMDislyte intends to impose its style on mobile.
7️⃣ In parallel, it’s the turn of Tower of Fantasy to begin its testing phase. Offered by Hotta Studio and Level Infinite, the Tencent label, this RPG with anime graphics tries to reconcile its open-world with a great story to follow, in the manner of Genshin Impact. With an immersive combat system, live a unique adventure on the planet Aida several centuries in the future. Particularly popular in China, the title will be released on PC and mobile in 2022 after the end of its closed beta on May 20.
Still on the side of Tencent, the dungeon-crawler Raziel will close on June 15, 2022 after three years of good and loyal service.
8️⃣ We told you last week about the rise of Epic Games, Sony and LEGO with great investment in the metaverse. This time it’s Core, a platform for creating virtual worlds released in April 2021 in the form of a video game that gives its news. Designed under Unreal Engine, this title of Manticore Games will soon arrive on iOS. However, you will have to continue using the PC version to create your universe since the iPad and iPhone port of Core only allows you to play already created games.
9️⃣ Alongside Meta, Epic Games, Roblox and other giants of the metaverse, it is quite surprising not to see Amazon taking its share of the cake. Despite some hiccups, its Amazon Games branch is certainly already looking into the issue internally. However, we know that the new generations of players are those who will have the earliest initiation to the metaverse and may even be the most adept at navigating it. The new game offers for children are therefore not trivial. This week, Jeff Bezos’ company is launching two games dedicated to them: Do Ré Mi to learn music and super spy ryanboth taken from animated series and available in the Amazon Kids+ subscription in several countries.
🔟 Finally, to conclude this news on the metaverse with the virtual galaxy that dominates the market, let’s take a look at Roblox. After the paris hilton world which allows you to see live fashion shows and visit his villa with your avatar in Roblox, it’s SEGA who sets foot in the metaverse. Indeed, the red sneakers of the famous blue hedgehog will soon graze the unforgettable tracks of Green Hill and Lost Valley in Sonic Speed Simulator on Roblox. This official adaptation of the Sonic license is already available on the game’s website, for those nostalgic for your best arcade racing sessions.
Solving the NFT heist and addiction issues
1️⃣1️⃣ Let’s get into a serious part of this recap, with large sums at stake. According to the FBI, the 625 million US dollars worth of cryptocurrencies stolen during the Axie Infinity hack a few weeks ago would be the work of a North Korean group called Lazarus. Here’s what the FBI said in a statement.
The FBI continues its fight against malicious cyber activity, which includes the threat posed by North Korea against the United States and its private sectors. With this survey, we were able confirm the involvement of the Lazarus Group and APT38 in the 620 million Ethereum heist of March 29.
Official FBI statement
Even though the cryptocurrency wallet has been frozen, it is possible that hackers can get away with it if they have the support of their government. In any case, I did not expect to talk about an FBI investigation in a recap on mobile games!
1️⃣2️⃣ This week, InnoGames spoke about the court decision in his addiction case. Hired by a player who spent $9,000 and spent more than 10,000 hours on Forge of Empires between 2016 and 2019, this legal procedure aimed to have the addiction created by the game recognized as well as the environment conducive to harassment, in particular misogyny, of which the person would have been the victim.
However, even if it is good to raise awareness of the predatory behavior of certain studios, InnoGames is not part of this camp according to justice. It turns out that the player herself would have insulted most in-game moderators which aimed to maintain a calm and relaxing environment in Forge of Empires. This verdict reinforces the position of choice of FoE which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Esports
1️⃣3️⃣ We conclude this week’s news with a bit of esport. The first Wild Rift Global Championship Icons 2022 world championship will take place in Europe from June 14 to July 8. More specifically, the 24 qualified teams will face off in Madrid, Spain to determine who will be the first world champion in the game’s history.
And that’s it for this recap of the week on the news of mobile games. Thanks for reading to the end, and see you next week.
