Mobile Games News Recap | Week of January 24 to 30, 2021
Discover it weekly recap of mobile gaming news on Android and iOS for the week of January 24 to 30, 2021! We let you read all about it below. ⬇️
️⃣ Clash of Clans esports heat up this week as we learn about a wave of community tournaments, the new World Championship Finals format and details of the Clash of Clans World Championship 2022 tournament. On the occasion of the ten years of CoC esports, Supercell offers a cashprize of$1 million for its World Finals from September 23-25, 2022 IRL.
️⃣ If you were looking for an open-world mixing adventure and action in the universe of a famous license, you should not be disappointed by the announcement of Seven Deadly Sins Origins on mobile, PC and console. Presented by Netmarble, this game goes back to the origins of the manga and the starting story imagined by Nakaba-Suzuki. A short presentation trailer also unveiled some in-game images allowing to associate the graphic style of this game in production with that, similar, of Genshin Impact. However, we will certainly have to wait before having more information on the game.
️⃣ In parallel with its work on Seven Deadly Sins Origins, Netmarble announces, during its press event, that it is working on a Game of Thrones MMORPG. Netmarble wants to make this title a small revolution in mobile games: developed under Unreal Engine 5, Game of Thrones mobile intends to offer graphics close to those of next-gen consoles and best mix the depth of the usual single-player experience with the incredible scale of multiplayer worlds. Thus, we could take advantage of both a dynamic weather, large-scale battles and innovative storytelling while exploring Westeros. The promise is great, but the latest GoT mobile game has not convinced us at all and we will have to stay tuned to integrate the first test phases and get a real idea of the title.
️⃣ A few days after the release of the game on PC and consoles takes place the release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Dueling on Android and iOS. With somewhat dated graphics, the game still promises a good dose of nostalgia and tries to unite old and new players around the same title.
️⃣ 23rd type of playable character, the Solaris class joins the Black Desert mobile roster. Melee players will now have a new class to test out during exclusive events that come with the latest game update on Android and iOS.
️⃣ The famous MMORPG from NEXON, HIT 2 is revealed in pictures. Alternating between PvP and co-op, this Heroes of Incredible Tales MMORPG features its first screenshots since its announcement, showcasing the interior of Intera Castle and the landscape of Tria Field. We expect the release of this title for this year.
️⃣ The Sky Frontier Fantasy Battle Multiplayer Stalking RPG has just been announced by BIGBANG for PC and mobile release. In the manner of Dauntless, this fantastic hunting title on mobile offers you, alone or in groups of 4 to 8 players, to go on an expedition to shoot down impressive creatures on islands floating in the void. However, the twist is mainly due to the addition of the NFT technology for a play-to-earn model, as many games are starting to offer.
️⃣ With the PUBG Mobile update 1.8, a brand new map is appearing: aftermath. As the name suggests, the map was changed by a disaster. Here, in the near future, the map of Livik was altered by the sudden eruption of a volcano. Not only is the relief different, but all this heat has also melted the ice of the place. Lava and Heat will damage you which you can resist by using more healing items. But the 1.8 update has other new features to discover in the patch notes.
️⃣ Devsisters studio, behind Cookie Run: Kingdom, announced this week 3 new titles from the Cookie Run license currently in preparation. With such success, it is not surprising to see them follow up so quickly. Among these three titles are Cookie Run Witch’s Castle, Cookie Run: Project B and Cookie Run: Oven Smash. Witch’s Castle focuses on a hybrid gameplay between puzzle, explosions and room decoration (probably a kind of match 3 with points spending phases). For its part, Project B positions itself as a multiplayer 3D action casual mobile game featuring aggressive combat with unique cookie skills. Finally, Oven Smash, scheduled for the second part of 2022, stands out for its choice to offer a brawler-like arena gameplay. If you liked the colorful universe of Cookie Run: Kingdom, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in it again through various titles to come this year.
