Discover it weekly recap of mobile gaming news on Android and iOS for the week of March 7 to 13, 2022! We let you read all about it below. ⬇️
The miHoYo update: Genshin and Honkai news
1️⃣ After Genshin Impact’s wanderings in Val Thorens, another miHoYo license invades real spaces abroad. An art exhibition is thus given in honor of Honkai Impact 3rd around the world for the 4 years in the Honkai universe. The exhibition opened on March 11 in Berlin and will then follow to New York and even Sao Paulo, with other destinations to be revealed later. This exhibition highlights no less than 300 official artworks to present the epic atmosphere of the title in a creative light.
2️⃣ Still at miHoYo, we invite you to participate the posterity of Honkai Impact 3rd. You can now register as a beta tester of Honkai Star Rail, the new license title, via the Galaxy Explorer Program set up by the Chinese developer for a second round of beta testing.
And for Genshin, as future updates become clearer, an ad for the Apple iPad Air has fans reacting as the woman on screen uses electro attacks against an electro boss who visibly displays “immune.” Suffice to say that purple on purple looks good to sell, but it’s rather stupid for the gameplay. You’ll have to hit a boss for a while as immune as a Gwen in the Rift League of Legends to overcome it. But, you’ll tell me, it’s no worse than the scene where Horizon Zero Dawn is presented as multiplayer in the Netflix series Lupine…
Pre-registration and new mobile games
3️⃣ For pre-registrations… We also find Brave Soul: Frozen Dungeon, an RPG from Unlock Games only available for Android gamers. The title presents itself as a gacha with more than 100 heroes linked to the main narrative and PvP options to measure yourself against other players. same for me Summoners War: Chronicles which has opened its pre-registrations in Thailand for a closed beta. This top-down RPG will reveal the secrets of many dungeons in real time. Unfortunately, its secrets won’t be open to Western players for a while… If you want to play a recent Com2Us title, I’m afraid you’ll have to settle for Valkyrie Rush. 😂
4️⃣ On the new releases side, we are entitled to a colorful runner titled Axolotl Stars, for a Fall Guys-esque rendering on mobile. On a completely different tone, enjoy a childhood in the 90s′ with a PC game port to Android titled Growing-Up. This narrative game features around twenty characters, relationships to develop, a skill tree to specialize in as you grow from child to 18-year-old adult. Unlock the different endings of your adventure by living or reliving the joys of the 90s. the Phobias game present in Indonesia makes its debut in the rest of the world soon (see trailer). This gacha mixes opening of boosters and arena fight between Phobias, monsters born from all fears and present in number of 120.
Error300 Games is meanwhile busy with the launch of Mosaic Chronicles, a sublime puzzle with fantasy stained glass windows to piece together. When launched on Android and iOS, the title offers a first story “A bit of horoscope” and will then be fleshed out with a second narrative framework (already available on the Steam PC version) “The lucky knot”.
Finally, the Fatal Fury retro fighting game becomes available on Android and iOS with its 16 legendary fighters.
Niantic News: Redemption, Niantic Days, and Campfire
5️⃣ Like Pokémon GO, Niantic is launching its Niantic Days which begins with a launch this weekend, March 13, and will be held thereafter once a month until July 2022. These events will take place in more than 20 IRL locations, mainly in Germany and the UK, against 200 different virtual spaces from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with free merch to collect. At the same time, the firm acquires 8th Walla company at the forefront of augmented reality web technologies, to support its IRL metaverse ideas with mixed reality.
In addition, rumors are circulating about the production at Niantic from a game called Campfire. Niantic’s efforts in creating a new license have not been publicly presented for Ingress, nearly a decade. As the studio focuses on its mobile adaptations Pokémon GO and Pikmin Bloom and its planned augmented reality solutions for developers, these rumors arose from a form of trademark application and we do not know more for the moment.
Updates, patches and special collaborations
6️⃣ Karma and Shen join the Summoner’s Rift on the occasion of the departure of the Ranked Wild Rift Season 5.
7️⃣ While the update 1.9 looms on the horizon and is slated for release on March 18, FPS gamers are treated to a PUBG mobile x Warframe collab. The partnership follows content agreements between PUBG and Arcane as well as Battle Royale and k-pop group BTS.
8️⃣ The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross offers free prints to its players as a connection reward to celebrate its two years of existence on mobile! The game also features a new festival hero and better drops.
9️⃣ FunPlus also signs a partnership with Orlando Bloom for King of Avalon. Sometimes elf archer sometimes loyal pirate in love, the Hollywood actor will be available as a playable character under the name ofOrlando the Nightshard.
🔟 Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel surpasses 20 million downloads since its release at the end of January. To celebrate the passage of the levels of popularity at such a speed, the game grants itself an additional story, a new portal with its dedicated rewards and multiple single player missions in F2P.
Mobile esports and decisions for Eastern Europe
1️⃣1️⃣ Notice to lovers of e-sports performances and mobile game tournaments! Snapdragon teams up with ESL to offer the Snapdragon Pro Series 2022, a great competition on mobile. This event is expected to start in April 2022 and feature a cashprize of $2 million Americans. The deal signed between the two entities presented in this trailer commits them over several years to grow mobile esports on an unprecedented scale. It also makes it possible to get out of the sphere of tournaments organized by the game publishers themselves to offer events on multiple games from different studios.
The enjoyable side of competitive gaming and the excitement of an elite competition will now be available at any time, from the pocket of any player around the globe. This will provide the opportunity for all players to become champions.
Snapdragon Pro Series Trailer
Added to this is the Call of Duty mobile roadmap leak for its 2022 Champions esports season, which particularly delighted players of this FPS on smartphones. This week was also confirmed the leak on the upcoming release of CoD Warzone mobile!
1️⃣2️⃣ Ukraine / Russia – Rovio (Angry Birds) withdraws from Russian and Belarusian markets on Playstore and Appstore. Rovio here follows the path traced by the decisions against the war in Ukraine taken by Mojang and Supercell. On the one hand, Rovio withdraws its games from the stores, preventing downloads and no longer offering any updates in these countries. And on the other hand, all advertising placements visible to its current players in the designated countries will be filled by UNICEF promotions instead of the usual advertisements. Other studios are obviously expected to take similar action in the coming days and weeks until the situation calms down in Eastern Europe.
Thank you for reading this week’s news to the end, and see you next week!
