MWC 2022: Xiaomi impresses with its Cyberdog robot dog and transparent TV
Xiaomi is present at the MWC in Barcelona to present its novelties. On its stand, the Chinese manufacturer is betting on two products to seduce: its Cyberdog and a transparent TV. These are two innovations intended to enhance the know-how of the Mark.
Will the dog soon has-been? At the Barcelona MWC show, Xiaomi presented its new products on its stand. To impress his world, the manufacturer has relied on two intriguing prototypes: the Cyberdog and a transparent TV. We were able to approach them.

The Cyberdog is, as its name suggests, a robot dog. The brand does not seek to compete with the terrifying creatures of Boston Dynamics, but to make a more affordable, more “user-friendly” product.
The Cyberdog comes out of the doghouse
For the moment, the dog is not planned for sale. However, Xiaomi makes it available to developers (for $1,500) so that they can invent new uses. The embedded software is indeed open source. A long-term strategy which will perhaps make it possible to give life to future products which are inspired by this cyberdog.
For the moment, Xiaomi’s Cyberdog is a gem of technology that is struggling to find a use. He is able to jump, to party to his owner, to follow him (thanks to the cameras included in the head), to transport light loads, to show off and to give the paw. It is even possible to connect terminals to it, such as a camera, thanks to a connector on its back. Apart from that, the poor creature seems quite limited. She cannot for example climb stairs and reaches the end of her battery after only one hour.
A technical demonstration that bears its name well: it’s a demonstration, nothing more. In any case, we are curious to see which segments Xiaomi will work on with this prototype. It could for example be an aid for people with reduced mobility or the elderly. The possibilities are limitless.
Xiaomi makes its TV disappear
The other prototype presented by Xiaomi is a transparent TV. This is the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition, a 6000 euro TV that we already took in hand last summer. So we have a transparent glass plate on which is displayed an image, here a butterfly animation. All the electronic components are actually hidden in the foot. Note that only one side broadcasts an image, the back remaining “off”.
If we must recognize the technological prowess, for the moment this TV has not really convinced us. The image is actually very noisy (despite being in 1080p) and the slab is sorely lacking in brightness. As a result, the display is almost unreadable. In short, there is still work.
