OnePlus 10 Pro: the manufacturer explains why white smartphones are rarer
OnePlus has just unveiled a new model of its top-end OnePlus 10 Pro, and this one is all white. The manufacturer took advantage of the arrival of the device to explain why white smartphones are so complicated to produce.
When he presented his OnePlus 10 Pro in China last January, the smartphone was only available in two colors: Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest. Now, the manufacturer has just lifted the veil on a new color: White Panda. In addition to being all white, this new model is the first in the series to offer 512 GB of storage, which finally allows it to align itself with most of its competitors.
On the occasion of the release of the new “Extreme Edition” of its smartphone, Liu Fengshuo, president of the OnePlus product line, explained on the Chinese social network Weibo why white colored smartphones were so rare on the market.

If white smartphones are so rare, it’s because of the complexity of the color
OnePlus shared three main reasons that it believes explain why manufacturers are less likely to unveil white smartphones. First, it would seem that the CMF (color, material, finish) process is more difficultsince small changes easily lead to a different rendering of white.
Moreover, OnePlus explains that the rate of return is low and the cost is high. Indeed, Fengshuo said it took “about three months of testing”, with more than 100 different attempts tested to find the best white for the new OnePlus 10 Pro “Panda White”.
At last, white color would be more prone to fingerprints and smudges, which doesn’t make it an attractive option for phone makers. Unsurprisingly, OnePlus announces that it has managed to overcome this problem with its OnePlus 10 Pro. The ‘Panda White’ model would even be able to maintain a similar color no matter what angle you look at it.
At this time, it’s unclear whether or not OnePlus plans to market its new white OnePlus 10 Pro in France. We always look forward to the arrival of the smartphone to us. The launch should be imminent, and we already know that the device will arrive here with OxygenOS 12.
