OnePlus could soon launch its first tablet called OnePlus Pad

by mobailee July 23, 2021 306

OnePlus recently filed a patent with EUIPO for a device called the OnePlus Pad. Although this is in no way a confirmation, the latter leaves little room for doubt as to the manufacturer’s ambition to offer its own tablet. All the more so as other brands bearing the BKK stamp have also announced that they are working on their model.

2021 is a key year for OnePlus. The brand released the OnePlus 9, its latest flagships which are even closer to the flagships in the field. Pete Lau, vice president of Oppo, then recently announced that the company will gradually absorb OnePlus. Its strategy will then become one with the company with which it already shares many links. However, the builder does not put aside his own projects.

Thus, a new patent filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) gives a serious clue as to OnePlus’ desire to launch a brand new device. Entitled “OnePlus Pad”, the document provides very little information about the technology involved. Nevertheless, such a name most likely refers to a tablet. If so, it will be the first tablet developed by OnePlus.

Is OnePlus preparing to unveil a tablet in the coming days?

Since its creation in 2014, OnePlus has already explored many areas of tech. Smartphones, connected watches, smart TVs, headphones, the firm’s range of expertise is wide. The next logical step is to launch your own tablet. Unfortunately, nothing from its technical data sheet was disclosed in the patent, which still leaves doubt on the true nature of the device in question.

However, another clue allows to lean reasonably towards a tablet. Indeed, other brands grouped under the umbrella of the multinational BKK, such as Realme and Vivo, have already announced that they are developing their respective models. Also, Vivo’s one is called Vivo Pad. OnePlus could therefore probably tell us about it in the days or weeks to come.
