Oppo launches the Watch Free, its new very autonomous connected watch at 99€
Oppo presented a new connected watch a few hours ago, the Watch Free. In addition to offering very interesting technical characteristics, it is displayed at a competitive price of only 99 euros.
Light, compact and trendy, that’s how we can sum up the new Watch Free that Oppo has presented alongside its new high-end Find X5 Pro smartphone, which we have already been able to test before its launch next month.
The connected watch weighs only 33 grams on the scale. She offers a 1.64-inch rectangular AMOLED screen with a definition of 280 x 456 pixels and is protected by 2.5D curved glass. The watch therefore adopts a different shape compared to Oppo’s top-of-the-range model, the Watch 2. The screen will automatically adapt its own brightness thanks to an ambient light sensor.
The Watch Free has a specific sleep function that detects abnormalities during sleep. The smartwatch supports more than 100 sports modes, including cricket, badminton, etc. It also has a heart rate sensor, a six-axis accelerometer with a gyroscope to measure your movements and a SpO2 sensor which monitors oxygen in the blood. These are nice features, but quite common in this increasingly competitive market.
Generous autonomy worthy of the best smartwatches
Oppo’s smartwatch promises 14 days of battery life on a single charge thanks to its generous battery of 230mAh. It also has fast charging support that can give it a day of battery life in just five minutes of charging.
Finally, we can note that the Oppo Watch Free presents a 5 ATM water resistance and an interchangeable silicone strap. Only flaw of the watch: it does not ship Wear OS, Google’s operating system. Instead, we find RTOS, an open operating system found in some of its competitors such as OnePlus or the famous Amazfit watches.
We will still have to be patient before we can get our hands on the new watch. She will launched in France in mid-March at a price of 99 euros. Two colors will be offered: cream and black. The watch is compatible with the Bluetooth 5.0 standard and can be paired with any smartphone running Android 6 or iOS 10 and above.
