Oppo Watch 2: discover the competitor of the Apple Watch which will be unveiled on July 27, 2021
Oppo will unveil a new connected watch on July 27, 2021. It will be called Oppo Watch 2. And it will once again benefit from a design similar to that of the Apple Watch, information confirmed thanks to the images that a famous leaker posted on social networks. It will logically embed WearOS. It remains to be seen whether it will be Wear OS 3.
With l’Oppo watch, Oppo entered the connected watch market in 2020, joining many smartphone brands already present. However, unlike Realme, Honor, Huawei or Xiaomi, Oppo made the decision to adopt Wear OS from Google. Thus, the Oppo Watch benefited from a real ecosystem of applications to better compete with the Apple Watch, of which it partly takes the design.
The Galaxy Watch 4 reportedly uses a brand new processor from Samsung
Even if this first iteration was not perfect, it nevertheless had enough positive echoes to know a successor, theOppo watch 2, which should be official from tomorrow, Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The announcement was made last week on Chinese social network Weibo. What will be the elements that will change? Will the design evolve? Will Wear OS still be there? Here are some of the questions we ask ourselves about this watch.
Oppo Watch 2: the first images reveal a design close to the Apple Watch
And some of them have been answered in advance, thanks to Evan Blass, famous leaker who regularly publishes information on still unofficial products. His new victim is the Oppo Watch 2. And his information takes the form of four visuals. Two of them accompany this article. Thanks to these images, we therefore have confirmation that the new watch will benefit from the same design as the previous one: rectangular screen, two buttons on the right, interchangeable straps (but proprietary hook system), eSIM to receive calls.
The Oppo Watch 2 should also bring some new features. An image suggests that it could embark a electrocardiogram, like the Apple Watch and the Galaxy Watch 3. This sensor was not present in the first Oppo Watch. Its arrival here would be very good news, although, as always, its activation in France would require Oppo to make a request to the French health regulator. Another image suggests that it could benefit from a built-in GPS. A new platform, based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4100.
What version of Wear OS in the Oppo Watch 2?
It is not yet possible to know, with these images, what version of Wear OS will be offered with the Oppo Watch 2. Or even if it will ship Wear OS. Remember that Google presented Wear OS 3 last May. But this version was developed with Samsung which will include it in its next Galaxy Watch (instead of Tizen). It wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung negotiated that their next watch would at least get a preview. This should be presented at the next Unpacked conference.
