Pixel Tablet: Google would ultimately not prepare a more powerful Pro version

by mobailee January 27, 2023 32

The Pixel Tablet Pro would ultimately just be a normal Pixel Tablet. Rather than prepare two models, Google would have finally abandoned one of them, because its development was falling behind.

A few months ago, we learned from the Android 13 source code that Google was working not only on the famous Pixel Tablet that we’ve been talking about for years, but also on a more powerful “Pro” model. However, it would ultimately seem thatone of the two models has been discontinued.

Indeed, developer Kuba Wojciechowski, behind other interesting reports, has discovered that the Pixel Tablet (tangor) has finally been discontinued. This was originally powered by a first generation Tensor processorbut its development has taken much longer than expected.

The Pixel Tablet “Pro” will replace the Pixel Tablet

Rather than release a tablet with an older processor, since Google has since launched the Tensor G2 on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, the American company would have simply decided to create a new version “tangorpro” with the new generation processor. The Pixel Tablet that we thought was “pro” is therefore only the new version of the old Pixel Tablet.

We find on this tablet 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storagea fingerprint reader on the edge as well as a LCD screen with a definition of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Finally, we also learn that the Pixel Tablet will be entitled to two different bases, known under the code names “korlan / K6” and “yuzu / Y4”

One of them will charge the tablet wirelessly, while the other will be equipped with a speaker. This latest version will therefore probably transform the Pixel Tablet into a Nest Hub, Google’s connected speakers with screens.

We do not know for the moment exactly when the tablet will arrive, but we imagine that Google will officially present it at the Google I / O conference in the spring. Moreover, months before its release, the Pixel Tablet has already appeared on the Facebook marketplace, which proves that many copies are already in the wild. We therefore expect another major leak that would reveal the entire technical sheet by the launch.
