Play on Android cloud gaming with Bluestacks X, it’s free!
While cloud gaming is increasingly present in the video game industry, with services such as Google Stadia, Shadow, or even Xbox Game Pass, mobile gamers are not the primary target. And this is what Bluestacks X intends to remedy. With Bluestacks X, the Android cloud gaming becomes reality: play your favorite mobile games with the power of the cloud. We tell you all about this service powered by now.gg technology.
Free Android cloud gaming for everyone
We hear a lot about mobile cloud gaming like the future market to go for the dematerialized game on smartphones. But no one had yet promised to take the plunge. Bluestacks X appears to be the first of its caliber to hit the market. When you know a little Bluestacks and the quality of its Android emulation platform, we can only have confidence in this new project which has just seen the light of day.
Safe and intuitive, this emulator solution allowed them to acquire the experience necessary to push the mobile experience towards Android cloud gaming. Whether you are sure Windows, Mac, Linux, smartphone or tablet, you can enjoy the power of the cloud. Several advantages to this solution:
- No downloads is not needed. Mobile owners overloaded with already two fully filled SD cards who cannot make room, this is the ideal solution! All you need to do is open a web tab and you are already there! No more need to waitif you play via android cloud gaming.
- Recover your backups between all your devices, PC and Mac included with the mobile cloud gaming solution. Are you sitting in front of your PC playing Genshin Impact, but you have to go to the bathroom? Continuing on this or tablet would be practical but you haven’t updated for months … Open Bluestacks X, no downloads or no update wait for you, and resume the game from one device to another.
- No performance concerns (on paper) even if the devices you use on the android gaming cloud are a bit dated. All you need is a adapted internet connection at your fingertips to be able to play on efficient servers.
How does this free cloud gaming service work?
Some will have a hard time understanding how Bluestacks can be free, what makes it special, etc. For more explanation, the American company has published the video below. The latter explains how Bluestacks X works in general. First of all, I told you earlier about now.gg. This Bluestacks subsidiary focused on developing a proprietary cloud gaming technology unique. Indeed, rather than basing its operation 100% on the cloud, the work of calculation during your gaming sessions is shared between your device and the server.
This reduces server costs enough to provide this experience of hybrid android cloud gaming for free. To have tested it, we can still tell you in advance that there is a small ad to watch before the service launches, but nothing traumatic or intrusive. This system allows everyone to access it, including those who cannot afford to pay for a gaming subscription or to change phones since the hybrid aspect of the service allows you to run your favorite games on older generation phones.
How to play with mobile cloud gaming?
Nothing could be easier with Bluestacks X. No subscription needed nor payment of any kind. You don’t even no need to download Bluestacks client usual. Open a new web tab next to it, go to the official website and choose the game of your choice. You can already play! After all, the mobile cloud gaming imagined by Bluestacks X wants to be a “one-click” solution.
To switch your backups from one device to another, the google account remains the most practical connection. Not all mobile games run in the cloud yet. However, the available games catalog in cloud version (no download) is expanding day by day. Note that at the moment the service is in beta and is only just starting out, so you may encounter some concerns when using it. This is why we have carried out our own tests in order to give you our opinion on the mobile cloud gaming of Bluestacks X (Beta).
Our test of Bluestacks X in the cloud
We tested the service on phone, tablet and PC. The results differ from one medium to another. On mobile, the android cloud gaming service is quite convincing. We were a little scared when we saw that a game asked us for an update but the entry into the game was done instantly from the Chrome tab. Nothing serious.
On mobile (Punishing Gray Raven)

In the menus, the android cloud gaming service is clear and readable. The only distinctive thing that lets us know we’re on BS X is this interface bar on the right to access various settings. On this side, we also regret not being able to completely erase the bar which can harm certain gaming interfaces. But hey, if that’s its only concern, mobile cloud gaming has a bright future ahead of it.

Still on the same phone, once you leave the menus for the game itself, the quality drops slightly: the dialogues are a bit blurry, aliasing more present, but the response time of the machine remains very good.
On tablet and PC (Infinity Kingdom)
However, on tablet and PC, the free cloud gaming service on android suffers a real graphics downgrade which looks more like a stretched version of mobile visuals than a real adaptation to the screen format. I have put the two versions side by side between original support and Bluestacks X version. First of all on tablet:

Then on PC:

This is not as obvious in these screenshots in android cloud gaming as it is in real life, but with the controller or the mouse in hand, you will see how the graphics are bad on Bluestacks X cloud PC or tablet compared to Bluestacks 5 or the playstore version that runs directly on your device. A high latency is also bad, which makes some games totally unplayable as it is, as I experienced on Punishing Gray Raven on PC. On Infinity Kingdom (screenshots above), this is not too serious, but still annoying and detracts from the fluidity of the game.
Bluestacks 5 in its downloaded version offers an experience without any visual commonality with Bluestacks X, so I recommend you to continue playing mobile games on PC through normal Bluestacks and not its cloud version in the early days of this Beta. However, you can give BS X a chance on mobile because it is a surprising experience good to take for any gamer, knowing that it does not cost anything! As a reminder, the service is barely in beta. It remains to be seen if Bluestacks X will keep all of its promises over time, since its launch is already not so bad.
