PlayStation VR: Sony will offer games for the 5 years of the VR headset
The PlayStation VR celebrates its five years of existence and Sony wants to mark the occasion. For this, the Japanese firm announced to offer PS VR games to all PS Plus subscribers in November. At the moment, the list is not known, but there are some clues.
The PlayStation VR, the virtual reality headset for the PS4, was released in October 2016. Exactly five years ago, then. To celebrate this anniversary, Sony has decided to make a gesture towards its users by offering them gifts. PS Plus subscribers will receive their usual games of the month in November, but also three additional titles dedicated to headphones. It is the manufacturer who announces it on his official blog:
“To celebrate this anniversary, we would like to give a fitting thank you to PlayStation fans: Starting in November, PlayStation Plus members will receive three bonus PS VR games at no additional cost. Stay tuned for more information on the PlayStation Plus update in the coming weeks. “
The PSVR has 500 games in its game library
Good news for virtual reality enthusiasts and proof of the success of the headset. Sony is however careful not to give the name of the games offered, but gives some clues, including a list of the most popular titles. As a reminder, there are more than 500 that have been released since 2016.
Internationally, it’s Rec Room which is most appreciated by gamers. This is followed by Beat Saber and PlayStation VR Worlds, a tech demo meant to show off the capabilities of the headset. In fourth and fifth place we find Skyrim VR and Resident Evil 7, which had been designed for both screen and headset play. If you like to play PS VR, then you will have to watch out for the November offers of the PS Plus. We will share it as soon as it is revealed, of course.
As for the PSVR 2, we are still in the process of waiting. The presentation should not be long any longer and some are betting on the beginning of the year 2022. In addition to being dedicated to the PS5, this new model could bring very interesting innovations like the presence of OLED screens.
