Samsung announces the Galaxy Buds Pro 2, its first 24-bit Hi-Fi wireless headphones

by mobailee August 10, 2022 59

The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 are official. These high-end headphones are distinguished by the addition of a proprietary 24-bit Hi-Fi codec without compression for audio quality that no other Samsung audio device can match.

Busy day for Samsung, which formalized its new folding smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, as well as its connected watches Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The brand has also been active in the audio field by presenting its new Galaxy Buds Pro 2.

The South Korean manufacturer largely takes over the design of the first generation of Galaxy Buds. The great novelty is rather to be found on the side of the integration of a brand new audio codec: the Samsung Seamlesss Codec (SSC) Hi-Fi. SSC Hi-Fi is a lossless and therefore lossless codec supporting a 24 bit sample rate. Be careful though, if it promises an audio quality never before experienced on the brand’s wireless headphones, the codec is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy smartphones, under One UI 4.0 at least.

Galaxy Buds Pro 2: SSC Hi-Fi codec and Bluetooth 5.3 on the program

The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 support the Bluetooth 5.3, a standard that brings better performance on high-speed transmissions and better battery life than its predecessor. The range is announced up to 10 meters. The headphones of course have active noise reduction that can be personalized via the app, managed by three microphones in each earphone. We also find spatial audio with the 360 Audio mode.

Unsurprisingly, the headphones are Google Assistant compatible and feature touch control to adjust volume, playback or active noise canceling. Regarding autonomy, Samsung announces respectively 5 and 8 hours with ANC and without ANC. The charging case allows up to 18 and 29 hours.

The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 are available in black, white and purple colors for the price of 229 euros. An introductory offer also allows you to be offered a Samsung Duo 15W induction charging station to wirelessly charge two devices at the same time, including the Buds Pro 2 case.
