Strava rolls back and re-enables Apple Health sync

(Pocket-lint) – After disabling a feature that allowed iPhone users to sync third-party activities with their Apple Health app, Strava has now turned around and rolled back the change.

The reversal comes a day after the kill switch was flipped and signals that users were understandably upset that this feature was disabled in the first place.

This led to many users contacting the support team asking why their feature was no longer working. Originally, it looks like the change was made to prevent duplicate workouts from showing up in Apple Health.

That in itself is a very real frustration, if you have multiple sources feeding into Apple’s health app, while syncing them to Strava.

Speaking to Pocket-lint, a Strava spokesperson said: “Our attempt to prevent duplicate activity uploads from being posted on Strava has created unintended consequences for our community of athletes. After listening to their feedback and assessing the situation, we have decided to re-enable syncing for the third-party apps to Apple Health.”

This now means that whether you’re using your Garmin, Zwift, Peloton, Wahoo – or another Strava-enabled third-party system – your workouts that sync with Strava will also sync with Apple Health again.

Of course, if you’re having trouble with duplicate records, you can always manually stop Strava from sharing information with Apple Health.
