The iPhone 15 Pro would finally have physical buttons, Apple

The App Store generated 75 billion euros in revenue in 2021, twice as much as the Play Store
2021 has been a very good year for the App Store. During the last 12 months, the Apple store has raised no less than 75 billion euros. For its part, the Play Store achieved a turnover of 42.5 billion euros, or half as much. Globally, TikTok wins the award for the most downloaded application.
In 2021, users spent $ 133 billion, or about 118 million euros, for applications, according to a study by Sensor Tower. This figure is in clear increase compared to last year, which then reached 111.1 billion dollars (98.3 billion euros), that is to say a difference of 19.7%. Necessarily, the revenues generated by the main stores have also skyrocketed.
For several years now, the App Store has nestled comfortably at the head of the most prolific app stores. In 2019 in particular, the latter had a turnover 80% higher than that of the Play Store. A gap that seems to be widening over time. Indeed, the Apple store has raised $ 85.1 billion (75 billion euros) in 2021, while Google’s shows revenues of $ 47.9 billion (42.5 million euros), or two times less than its competitor.

The App Store, champion of all categories of turnover
However, the year 2021 has not been easy for Apple. His lawsuit against Epic Games, which ended in a potentially costly defeat, could have weakened him against his ever more voracious competitor. Not to mention the arrival on the market of HarmonyOS 2.0, whose store already has several million developers. But that didn’t stop the App Store from knowing growth of 17.7% compared to 2020. It should be noted all the same that the Play Store recorded a higher growth, namely 23.5%.
Sensor Tower also reveals the most popular apps of the year. If in France the crown goes to TousAntiCovid, TikTok remains in first place globally, both on the App Store and the Play Store. The Chinese social network is also the biggest generator of income, with $ 3.8 billion (3.5 billion euros) of turnover in 2021. Finally, it should be noted that games brought in 12.6% more money than in 2020, for a total of $ 89.6 billion (80 billion euros).
