The iPad Mini 6 starts off badly with that jerky scrolling of the screen
The iPad Mini 6 has just made its debut and unfortunately for it, they are marred by some problems of youth, like jerks in the scrolling of the screen or even a bad optimization of iPadOS 15.
As you know, Apple held a new keynote on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The conference was full of announcements, starting with the official presentation of the iPhone 13, the next Apple brand smartphones. And against all expectations, Apple has also lifted the veil on its new iPad and iPad Mini 2021.
The Mini version of the famous tablet of the Cupertino company therefore offers a complete overhaul in 2021, in particular thanks to the integration of the brand new A15 Bionic chip and an 8.3 ″ Liquid Retina panel. With this new processor, Apple promises performance increased tenfold by around 80%, compared to the previous generation.
Available from € 559, iPad Mini 6 deliveries started on September 24 and the opinions of the first users are starting to fall. While most of them are satisfied, others complain on the contrary of some youth problems. Indeed, the journalist of The Verge Dieter Bohn noted with display problems when scrolling in portrait mode a page with a lot of text.
Here is slow-mo video of scrolling on the iPad Min i slowed down EVEN MORE in a frame-by-frame step through. Notice how the right moves up faster than the left.

A capricious screen and worries with iPadOS 15
One side of the screen tends to scroll faster than the other, creating a wobble which can be bothersome and cause headaches for some users. We nickname this phenomenon “Jelly Scroll” or “gelatinous screen” in the language of Molière. Unsurprisingly, he is not the only one to have encountered this problem and several users explain on Reddit and on the forums of several specialized sites to have contacted Apple for replace their iPad Mini 6.
Note that the problem disappears once the tablet is in landscape mode. For now, it’s difficult to know if it is a hardware problem affecting certain units or conversely a large number, or if it is a software problem. We must add to this an optimization to review with iPadOS 15.
Some elements of the interface must have struggled to adapt to the new 8.3 ″ format of the iPad Mini 6 panel. The result is circles that become oval, or still overlapping scriptures. On this point, we already know that an iPadOS 15.1 update is in preparation (hopefully with fixes for the previously mentioned problems).
