This annoying iOS bug totally disables Wi-Fi
IPhones are victims of a new bug. When the smartphone tries to connect to a Wi-Fi network with a specific name, iOS will automatically turn off Wi-Fi. The functionality is even completely blocked until the user resets their device’s network settings.
Danish computer security researcher Carl Schou has discovered a new bug in the iOS operating system. “After joining my personal WiFi network with the SSID“% p% s% s% s% s% n“, My iPhone has permanently disabled the WiFi functionality” explains Carl Schou on his Twitter account.
Worse, this bug prevents users from reactivate Wi-Fi. As can be seen on the video accompanying the tweet, the interface prevents the “Wi-Fi” option from being checked in the settings of the iPhone. If you happen to come across a WiFi network with this name, do not connect to it. It is indeed not unimaginable that smart kids would have fun changing the name of their network in order to trap their neighbors or those around them.

How to fix% p% s% s% s% s% s% n Wi-Fi network bug on iOS?
According to Carl Schou, this dysfunction comes from the programming language C. To reactivate the Wi-Fi, it is necessary to go through a complete reset of the network settings of the iPhone. Indeed, restarting the smartphone will not be enough to correct the bug. Here is how to correct the fault and reactivate the Wi-Fi:
- See you in the Settings from your iPhone
- Click on General
- Go to Reset
- Press on Reset network settings
- Enter your password
Be careful, this operation will reset all the settings related to the Wi-Fi network and the VPN configurations of your iPhone. After resetting the settings, you will need to manually reconnect to all Wi-Fi networks by entering the corresponding password.
For the record, this isn’t the first time that a name or symbol has caused chaos on iOS. Last year, the Italian flag was able to crash iPhones. Two years earlier, the word “Taiwan” was accompanied by an unexpected crash. We will also remember this video that appeared on the web which was designed to crash the iPhone.
