TikTok, Facebook, Instagram… Here are the 10 most downloaded applications in June 2021
The SensorTower research institute published the ranking of the 10 most downloaded applications on smartphones in May 2021. TikTok retains the first place in the ranking all platforms combined, but also takes first place on the Play Store, defeating Facebook in second position.
Each month, the study institute SensorTower, an analysis specialist in the mobile applications market, presents its ranking of the most downloaded applications on smartphones. This ranking is interesting, because it highlights the differences in use between iPhone owners and Android users. And contrary to popular belief, it is not because Android represents more than eight out of ten smartphones in the world that iOS does not influence the ranking. Quite the contrary.
Telegram is stronger than WhatsApp by offering video conferences to 50 people
The ranking for the month of May 2021 reveals that the rise of TikTok is not yet complete. The popular social application among young people is first in the general ranking as well as on iOS. It was already in April 2021. But, unlike last month, TikTok is also in pole position in the Android ranking of May 2021. The application thus overtakes Facebook. Facebook is also number 2 of the ranking for all platforms, as in April. On iPhone, Mark Zuckerberg’s social network is only sixth. This is Youtube which is in second position.
Facebook places four of its apps in the Top 5
In third position of the general classification, we find Instagram, which also takes third place on iOS and Android. Then comes WhatsApp, currently very controversial over these new conditions, followed by Facebook Messenger in fifth. This means that the Facebook group obtains four of the top five positions in the general ranking. We understand why Mark Zuckerberg is so keen on combining data from all three apps.
In sixth position, we find Zoom. The videoconferencing application manages to gain a place in the general classification, while it is positioned in seventh place on iOS AND on Android. The fault lies with Youtube, systematically preinstalled on all Google certified smartphones, and at CapCut, much less popular on Android and ranked fourth on iOS. Capcut is eighth in the general classification.
In seventh position, it is Snapchat. The social app is fifth on Android and missing from the iOS rankings. Telegram is ninth, while it was the most downloaded in January 2021. And Josh, an Indian alternative to TikTok, is tenth. Finally, note the presence of Google and Gmail in the Top 10 iOS (ninth and tenth respectively). These are applications that are never downloaded on Android, since, like YouTube, they are preinstalled on phones using the Play Store.
