TousAntiCovid is the most downloaded application of 2021 on iPhone, ahead of WhatsApp and Instagram

During the App Store Awards 2021, Apple revealed the list of the most downloaded applications of the year for iPhone. As one would expect, it is TousAntiCovid which takes first place in the usual networks, surely propelled by the implementation of the sanitary pass. WhatsApp and Instagram complete the podium.

End of the year rhymes with balance sheet. YouTube has listed the most viewed videos of the year 2021, Spotify has done the same with the most popular artists on its platform, it’s Apple’s turn to reveal the most downloaded apps from the App Store. This is precisely what the Cupertino company has done with its now traditional App Store Awards.

This year, TousAntiCovid wins the crown on the side of free applications. The obligation to present a health pass to enter public places has exploded the number of downloads, to the point of going past the usual social networks. We thus find WhatsApp and Instagram following the podium. TikTok, the most downloaded app in May, is now fourth.

Regarding mobile games, the tidal wave Among Us confirms its leadership position, while Call of Duty is as popular as ever, as shown by its 9th place finish. Fortnite is obviously not in the ranking, since the battle royale was banned from the App Store in the summer of 2020, which resulted in a long legal arm between Apple and Epic Games.
