WhatsApp failure: impossible to send messages this morning for millions of users
Since this morning, WhatsApp has become unresponsive for millions of users across the globe. The reports multiplied in the space of a few seconds, while on Twitter, the messages flowed. For the time being, it seems that this outage is worldwide. We take stock of the situation.
Panic on board for WhatsApp users this morning. Around 9:30 a.m., the app completely stopped responding for millions of them. Since then, he has simply unable to send and receive messages. Surprisingly, the worry doesn’t seem to take the same form for everyone. While at the editorial office, we are unable to send messages at all, only group conversations do not work for some.
One thing is sure, the outage seems global. On DownDetector, testimonials are pouring in from all over the world, while on Twitter, users have trended #WhatsApp in France in just a few minutes. In all likelihood, it would therefore be a problem connecting to Meta’s servers, although Mark Zuckerberg’s group has not yet communicated on the subject.
WhatsApp is hit by a massive global outage
Note that some people have visibly been logged out of their account and have not been able to access it since this morning. For now, they are therefore waiting for things to return to normal, because all other procedures, such as restarting their phone or their box, have failed. In theory, this shouldn’t take more than a few hours.

Indeed, this is not the first time that messaging has gone down globally in this way. We remember in particular the huge outage that affected all Meta services in April 2020, which was finally resolved in just one hour. Note also that today’s only seems to affect WhatsApp, the other group messaging, such as Messenger, working properly.
We will therefore keep you informed of the progress of events.
