WhatsApp now allows adding 32 participants to a single call
It is now possible to make calls with 32 participants on WhatsApp. After a relatively quick test phase, the application announced the news on its Twitter account. If it advocates its use to stay in touch with all his family, it can also be used in a professional context.
A few days ago, WhatsApp announced the arrival of new features. Among them, we find a Communities tab, the possibility of transferring 2 GB files, but also of adding up to 32 participants in a single call. It didn’t take long for the latter to arrive in the application. On its official Twitter account, WhatsApp has indeed announced that these gigantic group calls are now available.
“Sharing good news with your whole family means hearing all the joy and laughter in one call”, argues the application. In fact, it is likely that many users will use this feature to keep in touch with their entire family at once. On the other hand, it is difficult not to see there an attempt to tackle the messaging dedicated to the world of work.

Indeed, with the various waves of confinement, telework has become widely democratized and, with it, video call applications. A real opportunity for WhatsApp which remains one of the most popular messengers in the world. Nevertheless, the latter still has efforts to make to stand up to the giants of telework. Thus, unlike Zoom or Google Meetit is currently not possible to activate the camera during these group calls.
We will therefore have to be satisfied, for a while at least, with audio in this context. This could explain WhatsApp’s positioning in the family rather than professional context. Nevertheless, nothing says that the video will not land soon in group calls. This functionality could be one of the most anticipated of the application, as well as the possibility of connecting to several smartphones at the same time.
