WhatsApp now allows you to react to messages with an emoji like in Messenger

by mobailee March 22, 2022 109

After months of testing, message reactions are available to a limited number of users in WhatsApp version 2.22.8.3. The application thus gives the possibility of assigning emojis to a message from five choices: like, heart, laughter, surprise, sadness and thank you. It is yet to be determined if these reactions are reserved for group discussions or not.

It has been known for several months that WhatsApp plans to integrate reactions into messages. In version 2.22.8.3 app, this feature is now available to a limited number of users. If the messaging sometimes has fun tackling its companion Messenger, it seems that it was largely inspired by the latter this time. Indeed, it is enough to remain pressed on the message to bring up six emojis.

These are meant to represent six reactions: Like, Love, Laugh, Surprise, Sadness and Thank you. For now, several gray areas remain around the feature. First, we do not know when all users will have access to it. Moreover, it is still unclear if this feature is reserved for group chats, individual ones, or if it will be available for both at the same time.

WhatsApp finally integrates reactions to messages

If we refer to Messenger, it is very likely that the emojis are available for all conversation types. Especially since the other messengers to offer this functionality, like Discord, Telegram or Slack, have chosen to integrate it into all chats. It will therefore be necessary to show oneself still a little patient before having the heart for it.

In any case, this recent update is good news for all those waiting to be able to react to messages, since it means that swe will be rolling out to the general public soon. In the coming months, Conversations may get several long-awaited new features, including the ability to create polls in group chats. We will let you know as soon as we know more about this.
