WhatsApp will allow you to choose the quality of the videos before sending them
Downloading videos will speed up significantly on WhatsApp. Indeed, the application is currently testing a new feature on the beta of the Android application. It will allow users to choose the quality of their videos before sending them.
Via these different beta versions, WhatsApp takes the opportunity to test a multitude of new features, before possible deployment to all users. After having tried ephemeral messages in the style of Snapchat, having made it possible to modify voice messages before sending or support multi-media, WhatsApp is now focusing on video.
Indeed, our colleagues from the WABetaInfo site have discovered clues concerning a new feature in beta 2.21.14.6 of WhatsApp on Android. Darkly baptized “Video Quality”, this feature will allow users to choose the quality of their videos before sending them.
Thanks to WhatsApp, you will be able to choose the quality of the videos you send
You will be offered three choices:
- Auto : WhatsApp will automatically detect the best compression algorithm for your video
- Best quality : WhatsApp will always send the video in the best possible video quality
- Data saving : In this mode, WhatsApp will compress the video quality to reduce the consumption of power and mobile data

You will understand, thanks to this system, you will be able to find a certain balance between the size of the file and the quality of the video, according to your needs (remaining autonomy and quantity of mobile data available). Note that by default, WhatsApp will determine the quality or size by implementing video compression if deemed necessary. But of course, you will be free to choose the option that suits you from the three previously mentioned.
For the moment, this feature is under development and it is still not accessible to users, whether they are in beta or not. In fact, no deployment date is on the agenda. But if we rely on the way of proceeding of WhatsApp, this feature should arrive soon in the beta for full-scale tests, before being possibly offered to all users. It will therefore be necessary to be patient before being able to take advantage of it.
