WhatsApp will soon imitate Discord and Telegram on this very practical feature

by mobailee February 3, 2023 36

WhatsApp’s latest beta brings a new feature that will greatly benefit users in group chats. Indeed, the application is currently testing the possibility of pinning messages within a conversation. For now, it seems that only the Business version will be able to benefit from it.

In recent months, WhatsApp teams seem to attach particular importance to group conversations. This is no coincidence: the pandemic has seen the advent of videoconferencing applications, Google Meet, Zoom and Teams lead, pushing Meta’s messaging to crave its piece of the pie. If group video calls are not new, WhatsApp has completed this aspect with a number of new features, such as the arrival of the Community tab, polls or the ability to mute a participant’s microphone.

But, who says group conversation sometimes says abundance of messages of which it is sometimes very difficult not to lose track. Other applications have already found a solution to this problem. Telegram and Discord, to name but a few, have long offeredpin certain messages from a conversation, so that it is easily accessible at all times. But we were still waiting for WhatsApp to integrate it into its own application.

WhatsApp will finally allow you to pin messages in a conversation

In effect, the beta version 2.23.3.17 of WhatsApp on Android, spotted by the WABetaInfo site, finally includes the possibility of pinning messages. Messaging even displays an informative message to users who haven’t installed the update when another member has pinned a message, prompting them to install the latest version to take advantage of this feature.

However, it is important to note that at this time this feature is only available on the latest beta of whatsapp business. In other words, this means on the one hand that it is not guaranteed that it will end up being deployed to the general public and, on the other hand that, if necessary, it is possible that it will be reserved for professional users. We will of course keep you informed of progress.
