Xbox Series X: the return of stocks will not take place before 2023, according to Phil Spencer
Xbox boss Phil Spencer predicts that the component shortage will last until 2023. In an interview, he explains that consoles will be impacted at least through the entire 2022 calendar year and possibly the following year. Right now, it’s still extremely difficult to get your hands on an Xbox Series X.
When it comes to the shortage of components, pessimism is in order. Smartphones, consoles, tablets, cars, all sectors are affected by the lack of chips and semiconductors which has been raging for a year now. Having to keep afloat a production of existing devices that fails to meet demand, some manufacturers are forced to cancel the release of other devices. As for a return to normal, each forecast is worse than the last.
As for consoles, the latest estimates hoped that things would improve by September 2022. Asked about the subject in an interview, Phil Spencer, the boss of Xbox, confirmed these forecasts. However, it also evokes an even less encouraging prospect. According to it, it is very likely that supply problems persist until 2023.

You’ll still have a hard time finding an Xbox Series X in 2023
“I think it’s probably too isolated to talk about a simple chip problem”, explains Phil Spencer. “When I think about what it means to get the parts needed to build a console today and then get them to the markets where the demand is, there are several problematic steps in this process. And I think that, unfortunately, this will accompany us for months and months, certainly until the end of this calendar year and into the following calendar year ”.
The boss of Xbox thus joins his comrades in the automotive sector, who also plan for 2023 for a return to normal. Other manufacturers are clear on this subject: 2022 will not be spared by the shortage of components. So it will be just as difficult to buy an Xbox Series X next year. “The hardest part is simply the disappointment of the fans”, comments Phil Spencer. “People really want this new generation of consoles […]. We are working hard to bring them to market, but this will be a challenge that we will be working on for a while. “
