Xiaomi launches Redmi Buds 4 and 4 Pro to shake with Apple AirPods Pro
Xiaomi has just presented two new pairs of True Wireless headphones in China, the Redmi Buds 4 and Redmi Buds 4 Pro. The new models are both compatible with active noise reduction technology, and offered at very attractive prices.
On the occasion of its big conference on May 24, 2022, Xiaomi lifted the veil on new mid-range smartphones, the Redmi Note 11T Pro and Redmi Note 11T Pro+, a Xiaomi Band 7 connected bracelet, but also on a whole new generation of Bluetooth headphones, the Redmi Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro.
These will directly succeed the Redmi Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, which were unveiled in France last summer for the most expensive model, and at the end of the year for the classic version. The new generation wants to be quite different, since in addition to offering a new design, both pairs are now compatible with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. Previously, only the Buds 3 Pro model took advantage of it.
What technical characteristics for the Redmi Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro?
First of all, the Redmi Buds 4 this year feature the same compact design as last year’s Redmi Buds 3 Pro. These in-ear headphones offer active noise reduction suppressing 35 dB, as is the case with most of their competitors. Each earbud features a 10mm composite vibrating diaphragm, which should deliver better sound reproduction than the previous generation. Their main advantage over the Redmi Buds 3 Pro is their increased autonomy, it will take up to 6 hours on a single charge, and up to 30 hours with the case.
For their part, the Redmi Buds 4 Pro are destined to hurt Apple’s AirPods Pro. Headphones are entitled to 43 dB noise reduction particularly effective against wind noise and a double diaphragm of 10 mm and 6 mm. On the connectivity side, the headphones rely on the new Bluetooth 5.3 standard, while the Buds 4 make do with Bluetooth 5.2. Finally, the announced autonomy is up to 9 hours on a single charge, and up to 36 hours with the case. Both pairs are also IP54 certified for water and dust resistance, and the Redmi Buds 4 Pro offer a low latency mode at just 59ms.
For prices, it costs 199 yuan (28 euros) for the Redmi Buds 4 and 399 yuan (56 euros) for the Redmi Buds 4 Pro. The headphones are therefore more expensive than the previous generation. We will have to wait several more weeks before seeing them arrive in France.
