Xiaomi Mi TV Stick 2021: the HDMI Android TV stick would finally be 4K compatible
A new model of Mi TV Stick was spotted at the FCC certification body before its presentation by Xiaomi. This should fix the biggest flaw of its predecessor, which was limited to 1080p.
The 2021 model of the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick was certified by the FCC before its release, and the HDMI dongle has already revealed all of its secrets. In addition to unveiling its design, the FCC revealed the main features of the dongle, responding to a number of model MDZ-27-AA.
According to the certification body, Xiaomi’s new Android TV key should be much more powerful than last year’s model, since it would promise in Wi-Fi a maximum downlink internet speed of 866.7 Mb / s using the VHT80 channel and an upward speed of 300 Mb / s via the HT40 channel.
The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick 2021 will fix the biggest flaw of the current model
For now, the only TV stick that Xiaomi offers in France can only display content up to 1080p at 60 fps, but this should be revised upwards on this new generation. Indeed, the stick would be equipped with a new Amlogic S905Y4 processor which offers four Cortex-A35 16500+ DMIPS cores and an ARM Mali G31 MP2 GPU clocked at 850 MHz.
This new chip would allow the HDMI dongle to render content with a 4K definition up to 60 fps, which would allow it to align with its direct competitors such as the Chromecast with Google TV or the new Fire TV Stick 4K Max from Amazon.
The new Mi TV Stick 2021 would also support new codecs: AV1 / H.265 / VP9 P-2 / AVS2 4Kp30 and H.264. We can therefore potentially expect a better experience on cloud gaming services such as Stadia. It will also be compatible with a whole bunch of technologies that will improve the image and sound of displayed content, such as HDR10 / 10 +, HLG, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS HD.
For his part, the remote control should remain the same as on the previous generation. The Mi TV Stick 2021 will always come with a 5W power supply and two AAA batteries for the remote control. For now, we do not know when this new model will arrive in France, but we can hope to see it arrive by the end of the year. We imagine that it will be a little more expensive than the original model, which is currently marketed at 39.99 euros.
