Google finally lets you watch video from your Nest cameras live on PC
At the beginning of October, Google started detailing the Google Home experience for the web, and the company has finally announced that it will be possible this week to access the feeds from your Nest cameras directly on your computer.
Google just announced that Customers with a Nest security camera or doorbell will now be able to view their camera feed on the web. Until now, Nest customers could only view the live feed from their cameras and doorbells through the Nest or Google Home app on smartphones.
This application had become the nerve center of the products, since it allows to monitor, modify the parameters, view the images and update the devices thanks to automatic updates. However, camera owners will now be able to do all of this directly on PC.
Nest cameras are coming to PC
Camera owners can therefore easily consult their live cameras in full screen, zoom in to see more details, view the status of the camera or even modify the parameters directly on their web browser.
Although Google official website update is not yet available for all users, you may check frequently the home.google.com site via the Chrome browser to see whether or not your connected Nest cameras and doorbells allow access to the live video stream.
Here’s how to access your cameras on PC:
- Go to home.google.com on your desktop computer
- Sign in with the same Google account you use in the Google Home app on smartphone
- Locate your Nest cameras in the device list and click on them
- You should be able to view live feeds from your cameras, and even switch between a single camera view and a multi-camera view
The list of supported cameras for web view includes Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Cam (wired), Nest Cam with projector (wired), Nest Doorbell (battery), Nest Doorbell (wired) aka Nest Hello, Nest Doorbell (wired, second generation) , Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor, Nest Cam IQ Indoor and Nest Cam IQ Outdoor.
